Leisurely Labor Day in Sedona
A stroll in Uptown Sedona is fun for locals
too

Sedona, AZ - September 02, 2008 -
During this long Labor Day weekend, Uptown
Sedona played host to its 22nd Annual Moonlight
Madness, a time when shops stay open late, merchants roll out their
wares onto the Uptown Sedona sidewalks; and
music, food, and fun activities for kids and
adults rein supreme.
It's the unofficial kick-off event of the
Sedona tourist season.
On Saturday, the shops stayed open until 9pm.
My friend Sandy and I decided to check it out
on Monday, Labor Day. Mike Blevins at
Sedona Green in the Uptown Mall told us that
Saturday was the busiest day and Sunday was a
bit slow due to rain. (Ask Mike about his famous
Sedona Rocks!tm baseball caps.)
By the time Monday rolled
around, many tourists were on their way home.
Being locals, Sandy and I don't get to Uptown
much, so this was a great chance for us to
stroll the Uptown sidewalks, peak our heads in
shops, chat with friends, listen to music, and
sample food.
We parked our car in the Sinagua parking
garage, and entered the Sinagua Plaza to the
strums of flamenco guitar with Drew Diego
Bennett and his band that included Tommy Acosta, local musician and also editor of
the the Sedona Verde Valley Times newspaper.
