Middle Eastern belly dance and music, one night only in Sedona on Nov 14, 2009

SEDONA, AZ (October 30, 3009) - Sedona resident Carrie Konyha has a zeal for sharing her art. Carrie is an expert Middle Eastern dance artist & instructor impassioned about sharing the ancient art of belly dance in its traditional form.

On Saturday, November 14th at 8pm, Carrie will be performing in partnership with ‘Rhythm Oasis’- a traditional Middle Eastern music ensemble from Flagstaff, AZ. The show “Caravan Dreams” is playing for one night only at Relics Nightclub in W. Sedona. Spectators can expect to experience a fully enchanting evening of traditional Middle Eastern music & dance entertainment.

The collaborative incentive to create “Caravan Dreams’ is inspired by a mutual vision shared both by Carrie & Rhythm Oasis ensemble members to offer traditional Middle Eastern music & dance entertainment with the highest level of authenticity possible.

This kind of authentic cultural entertainment is more prevalent in the coastal states of our country but is not so accessible in our area. “We want to bring our art to our own community; supporting & enhancing the diversity of cultural entertainment that our community has to offer,” says Carrie.

Their objective is to present performances that delight discriminating audiences who already understand this art form and to inspire appreciation of this art for those currently unfamiliar with Turko-Arabic music, dance & the sophisticated culture from which it came.  We feel that the eternal beauty, passion and joy of Middle Eastern music & dance should be shared with everyone.

Rhythm Oasis ensemble members include Russ Weidman, David Semanas, Mark Cederholm & Mike Keberlein who together play a variety of exotic instruments including Violin, Oud, Riq, Tar, Doumbec, Ashiko drums, Concertina. Vocals in various Arabic language dialects are presented as well. Dancer Carrie Konyha accompanies the band through playing her brass finger cymbals while she is dancing. The show will take the audience through a passionate & playful journey through the middle east with the music & dance portrayed in our show.

Come see Caravan Dreams on Sat. November 14th, Relics Restaurant 3235 W. Hwy 89A, Sedona AZ
